All JD jewelry is made to be worn every day and become an heirloom passed down to generations. Here are some insights about caring for your pieces.

Despite the general belief that metal is sturdy, it is actually surprisingly soft and malleable, which allows for all the creations. That is why you almost never see jewelry made in pure metals, like Fine Silver or Pure Gold.

What we use in jewelry are the alloys. Silver alloy is Sterling Silver, made of 92.5% Silver and 7.5% Copper. The same goes for Gold: 24K Gold is in its pure state, and while certainly being used in antiquity and present time for details that don’t get too much function & wear, it is soft and not recommended for general use in jewelry.

That being said, jewelry will scratch and get some nicks. If you handle ceramic plates or clap your hands too strongly, you might leave a mark. Once in your life, the pieces start the journey together with you.

    Cleaning Silver:

Silver alloy Sterling Silver will oxidize due to the copper content, especially if held tight in the box. The more you wear and handle the jewelry with your hands, the more resistant it will be to tarnish. To remove the oxidation and brighten up your piece, you can use the polishing cloth, readily available Goddard's Silver Polish, or my favorite, slightly abrasive toothpaste and some baking soda. Simply rub the piece with the paste with your fingers or with a toothbrush, wash off with running water, and pat to dry.

    Cleaning 18K Gold:

18K Gold doesn't really tarnish because of a high gold content. If the piece gets dirty from everyday wear, using mild soap and a soft brush to clean it will do the job.

    Don’t forget:

Dust, cosmetics, perfume, and daily wear all affect the brilliance of the highly polished jewelry.

Do not shower in your jewelry and avoid unnecessary exposure to moisture and cosmetics.

Keep your jewelry clean with mild soap and a soft cloth.
